Higher Education & Areas of Expertise
I have taught and assisted undergraduate university courses at York University and the University of Toronto, in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (Department of Social Science)—one Teaching Assistant Contract; the Faculty of Arts & Science (Department of Geography & Planning)—One Course Instructorship and 16 Lead Teaching Assistant contracts; and the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy (Asian Institute)—four Lead Teaching Assistant contracts.
My teaching spans urban studies, GIS, cultural and political geography, area studies, global economic shifts, children and youth studies, migration studies, and community development, among other disciplines and areas of focus.

Course Instruction
As the instructor for a third-year Course called Geographies of Transnationalism, Migration, and Gender at the University of Toronto, I used creative learning-centred (hybrid) methods to encourage student collaborators to examine intersections among research methods, child rights, gender, race, and global histories of migration debates.
The course provided an invigorating space for me to lecture about cutting-edge research and real-world situations while drawing inspiration from the lived experiences of student participation and engagement.
Planning a series of creative, interactive lectures at the University of Toronto.
Workshops, Resources, & Digital Expertise
I have developed several workshops to support writing development and created resources for the Faculty of Arts & Science Writing-Integrated Teaching (WIT) Program to assist students with successful career transitions, experiential learning and critical skills.
I actively collaborate with teaching colleagues to assist them with honing their teaching skills while learning from them ways to further advance my pedagogy.
My experiences with instructional technologies such as Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, Google Classroom, D2L Brightspace and Zoom have been extremely positive, and I strive towards using technology to develop an inclusive learning space for diverse learners.
Creating and leading a three-part workshop series across departments at the University of Toronto was one of my favourite hybrid experiences when working on critical ideas and skills with students.
Global Teaching Moments
I also bring global experience in teaching and community-based education, with a strong focus on human rights and inclusive program development across schools and other work environments, including retirement homes and rehabilitation centers internationally.
When I returned to Canada from research abroad in 2019, I worked as an Educational Coordinator for a tutoring company (Complete Education Centre) in Mississauga, Ontario. providing educational services to new immigrants and refugees.
Preparing to share with a group of educators about my teaching experiences in Nepal and other global contexts.
As the Educational Coordinator, I created workshops where I collaborated with teachers from across Ontario, College and University instructors, parents, and students on ways of perpetuating effective universal design for learning in classroom settings.
As a group, we also discussed ways of using inclusive technologies to encourage student-centred learning experiences across diverse learning contexts. The company has now been closed, unfortunately, due to financial constraints during the COVID-19 Pandemic's impact on small businesses, but experience and learning experiences are definitely life-long and so pivotal for my experiences in social justice education.
A poster I created for the company. Past learning moments have such an impact on our future trajectories. Thanks to the amazing team for the amazing experiences!
Teaching Philosophy
I strongly believe that working with students is a deeply collaborative process rooted in social justice, in which students deserve the right to feel safe, respected, and engaged.
I have experience with both small and large classes, ranging from 10 to 800 students—my largest course load was over 1,700 students at the University of Toronto, which comprised six courses across three departments, an educational teaching moment I will forever remember! An experience that deeply impacted my student-centred pedagogy.
Whether as a Course Instructor, (Lead) Teaching Assistant and social justice educator, I strive to create empowering spaces where students feel seen, heard, and inspired to lead.
To get my creative thoughts going, I stimulate my senses with a sun lamp on overcast days, the sweet aromas of candles, the calming sound and invigorating vibrations of a singing bowl, and meditation. Incomplete without a plant!
